Dance Life is rebranding!

The photo pictured here is the last time we had a branding photo shoot- July of 2012. A lot has changed at Dance Life, and we want the pictures on our website and in our ads to reflect that. 

We're looking for a diverse crew of people to come out and shoot some pictures with us. We are looking for all different kinds of people, especially those who aren't represented enough in most media- our friends in larger bodies, our friends of color, friends of varying gender and sexual identities (including men!), friends of different ability levels, and OF COURSE different ages!

Not sure if you fit in? You do, and we want you there!

We have three main categories of classes at Dance Life, belly dance, burlesque, and dance/ fitness classes. Please come in clothes that look like you're doing one of those three things, possibly with a change of clothes or two to fit another category.

For example, perhaps a top that shows your stomach for belly dance and a coin scarf, something sexier for burlesque (I would love to have both burlesque class clothes, and something a little more boudoir-esque. Facebook is VERY strict with the amount of skin and cleavage they allow us to show, so please go more conservative with lingerie). Or, stretch pants and athletic wear for fitness classes. You can wear makeup or not, whatever you prefer. Check out our Facebook event for some outfit inspiration.

If possible, we would love to shoot some video footage as well if time allows.

We won't be assigning times, just come whenever you are able to and we'll shoot with whomever we've got. Come and hang, bring some drinks and snacks and Dance Life will provide some drinks and snacks too! Lets have ourselves a fun photo shoot day!

Join Arielle Juliette for dinner and two beautiful belly dance shows at the Mediterranean Hookah Lounge and Cafe! The first set at 8:00pm will be a fluid cabaret set (what most people think of as traditional belly dance) and the second set at 9:30pm will be a belly dance fusion set. Both sets are 15-20 minutes long. There is no cost to see the show, dinner purchase is required to sit at the tables and the dancer graciously accepts tips :-D please show our lovely venue your support by spending at least $15 while you're there and keep live dancing going! These shows are family-friendly so bring anyone you'd like and let me entertain you!

DARING OUR DEEPER STORIES- AN EVENING RETREAT

For the past two years, on the national stage as well as in our intimate circles, we have seen how powerful it is when women tell our stories. 

Our stories are so much more than pain and trauma and memory. We also have stories of passion, and purpose. Stories of sharing and supporting. Stories of emergence and alignment. It is time to remember those stories and begin to grow from those roots. 

Now more than ever, we need to uncover, discover, and remember the stories at our core in order to live our passion and purpose into the world. A world that sorely needs deep feminine energies to shift and lift us into new possibilities. 

Through a combination of guided writing, oracle cards and gentle (and fun!) Qoya dance experience, this evening of retreat for women will help us to remember our essence, to stay grounded in our truth and purpose, in the harried and harrowing days leading up to Election Day. Together, participants will breathe into our intentions as we anchor ourselves in a place of possibility and hope. 

When women gather and share their stories and their truths, sacred space is created. As women have done forever, we come together in the lengthening evening to nourish and nurture ourselves and each other with laughter and honesty and grace. 

This event is free and open to all women 18+ years of age. For those who are so moved, there is a suggested sacred exchange donation of $10, $25 or $45, payable in advance or at the door.

Bring water, a yoga mat if you have one, and wear movement friendly clothes that make you feel good. Qoya is for all, regardless of dance experience.

In this round of Burlesque Dance Nights, we will be making pasties and learning how to twirl tassels! Spend the first part of the event constructing pasties with tassels, and then we'll learn a routine featuring tassel twirling to "Bumps and Grinds" by Sonny Lester.

Get loose, have fun, and make some new friends. Adult beverages and pasty-making supplies provided. No need to strip unless you want to- pasties can be attached to a shirt, undershirt or bra as well as to skin.

Dance Life is creating a calendar!

Join us on Aug 26th at 1pm at the studio for a fun and sexy photo shoot featuring our two favorite things: kitties and titties! If you have a tolerant kitty or two, bring 'em along.  No cats? No problem. Just bring your sassy self. 

Dress up or dress down, you can be in whatever you like! Even though our theme is a boudoir-esque "Kitties and Titties", you do not have to be nude to participate.

We will be putting all of the images together as a pin-up style fundraising calendar that we will sell an upcoming Inappropriate Song Night.

We've accepted as many applications as we can, and submissions are now closed! Join us at Inappropriate Song Night in December, where these calendars will be for sale.

Inappropriate Song Night
Held at Dance Life from 7:15pm-11:30pm, show at 8pm

Can't decide if you're going to spend your Friday night doing something weird, or doing something sexy? Get you an event that can do both! Inappropriate Song Night is the raunchy vacation from the rest of the world you never knew you were looking for. Part dance, part comedy, and part (optional) audience participation, you'll laugh so hard you'll wish you brought a second pair of underwear. ISN is a variety show that includes dance, burlesque, live singing and comedy acts and features a WTF auction,  dance-along opportunities, and all kinds of antics. Come for the sexy and stay for the weird on July 13th at Dance Life! 

Tickets are $20, stick around for the dance party after the show wraps. Feel like dancing but "don't know how"? Follow along with some of the Dance Life instructors who will demo some easy moves.

Tickets will be available at the door, but we will likely sell out so get one while you can! Parking is extremely limited so please plan to carpool, taxi in, or park down the street. 

Putting the "fun" into "fundraiser", all proceeds from ISN go to keeping the Dance Life doors open, lights on, and events like ISN happening throughout the year.  Can't attend this event, but still want to donate?
